(KRON) -- Health care workers said they have reached a tentative agreement with Kaiser Permanente Thursday, according to a post on X.Kaiser and unions representing 75,000 workers were back at the bargaining table with the possibility of another strike looking on the horizon.In social media posts from both the union and Kaiser Permanente, the two parties said they are thankful for the involvement of Acting U.S. Labor Secretary Julie Su. (BCN) -- Teachers and union members are demanding that one San Jose community college district increase compensation and health care benefits.Dozens of San Jose-Evergreen Community College District faculty and members of its Federation of Teachers union attended Tuesday's board meeting to push for better health care benefits under the Part-Time Community College Health Insurance Program. Through a new provision enacted last year under Assembly Bill 190, $200 million is available annually for community college districts to fund health care premiums for part-time faculty carrying 40% of the full-time workload. BRUSSELS (AP) — A European Union decision on whether to authorize the use of the controversial chemical herbicide glyphosate in the 27-nation bloc for at least 10 more years was delayed for a month after member countries failed to agree on Friday.The chemical, which is widely used in the 27-nation bloc, is approved on the EU market until mid-December. Representatives of the EU’s executive arm and member countries voted Friday in favor of renewing its authorization until 2033, despite protests from environmental groups. But to be adopted, the 10-year extension proposed by the European Commission required a “qualified majority,” defined as 55% of the 27 members representing at least 65% of the total EU population of some 450 million people. An attempted carjacking took a violent turn as a Lauderdale Lakes man was ambushed and stabbed while sitting inside his car. The incident, captured in surveillance video released by the Broward Sheriff’s Office Robbery Unit, unfolded on Thursday, Sept. 21, shortly before 5 p.m. The video depicts the assailant approaching the driver’s side of the victim’s vehicle, which was parked in the 4000 block of Northwest 34th Street. With the victim’s car window rolled down, the attacker demanded the car keys. When the victim resisted, the attacker repeatedly stabbed him in the arm.
