On-duty Riverside County sheriff’s deputy involved in deadly bicycle crash

An on-duty Riverside County Sheriff’s Department deputy was involved in a fatal bicycle crash early Tuesday. The incident was reported around 3:40 a.m. in the area of Country Club and Eldorado drives, according to the Sheriff’s Department.The deputy was not operating his vehicle in emergency response mode at the time of the crash.Deputies rendered aid to the injured bicyclist but he or she was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.No further details, including the identity of the bicyclist and what led up to the crash, have been released.The California Highway Patrol took over the investigation.Rose Bowl, other historic venues can use taxes from big events to refurbish stadium

The home of the "Granddaddy of Them All" may be getting an upgrade in the near future.On Sunday, Gov. Gavin Newsom signed into law Senate Bill 96, the Historic Venue Restoration and Resiliency Act, for which the Rose Bowl Stadium & Legacy Foundation has been lobbying for several months, the organization said in a news release.The Pasadena stadium, which celebrates its 101st birthday this month, has been designated a National Historic Landmark, but to "keep up with modern-day safety standards and expectations, there are significant compliance requirements," the release said. A bill that would make it easier for outdoor enthusiasts to reserve a campsite in California state parks was signed into law by Gov. A teenaged boy was killed when the electric bicycle he was riding collided with a car in Santa Clarita on Monday.The crash was reported around 9 a.m. at Decoro Drive and McBean Parkway, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. The 17-year-old was declared dead at the scene, as the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded but no one was transported to a hospital.
