President Joe Biden will arrive in Colorado on Monday as part of his administration’s “Investing in America” tour, the White House confirmed Sunday.Biden’s arrival in Colorado’s Third Congressional District — represented by Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert — marks his fifth visit to the state since taking office in 2020.“During the visit, the President will highlight how Bidenomics and the Inflation Reduction Act are mobilizing companies to invest in clean energy industries and create good-paying jobs,” a White House official said in an emailed statement Sunday.According to data from the White House, since Biden took office in 2021, companies have announced more than $5 billion in clean energy and manufacturing investments in Colorado, and outside groups estimate that the Inflation Reduction Act has created 3,500 jobs in the state since it was signed last year.Related ArticlesPolitics | Denver’s 16th Street Mall work won...49ers talk “learning experience” and close officiating calls after loss to Browns

The 49ers suffered their first loss of the 2023 season, a 19-17 defeat Sunday in rainy Cleveland.Deebo Samuel and Christian McCaffrey both were ruled out for the game due to injuries, and Brock Purdy struggled without them, going 12-for-27 for 125 yards, one touchdown and one interception. The offense stalled after a first-drive touchdown by McCaffrey on a shovel pass, rookie kicker Jake Moody went 1-for-3 on field-goal attempts (including a miss to win the game), and two late penalties on close calls harmed their chances of winning. Here is what the 49ers had to say after the game:Kyle ShanahanOn Moody’s missed kick to win the game:It’s always tough to miss that last kick but that happens in football. They played better than us today. That was the last play, but there was a lot more to today than just that.On the sequence before the kick:Just trying to get more yards and letting it go down, and then we wanted to leave it thereOn his message to the team:My message to them was re...49ers’ Studs and Duds: Brock Purdy and Jake Moody need to wear the Niners’ first loss

For the first time this season, the 49ers are losers.Jake Moody’s missed 41-yard field goal in the final seconds and Brock Purdy’s worst game as an NFL player (12 of 27, 125 yards, a touchdown and an interception) ended the Niners’ regular-season win streak at 15 on Sunday in Cleveland. There weren’t many positives to glean from a game that lacked execution and entertainment for all 60 minutes. Here are the studs and duds from the contest:STUDSChristian McCaffreyBloodied but undeniable — he was the only Niner who could move the football Sunday. Then, he left the game with an oblique injury.Fred WarnerIt might have only been the first quarter, but where would the Niners have been without his interception? Three points poorer, that’s for sure.Related ArticlesSan Francisco 49ers | 49ers talk “learning experience” and close officiating calls after loss to Browns San Francisco 49ers | Instant analysis: 49ers lose first ga...Canadian autoworkers ratify new contract with General Motors, leaving only Stellantis without deal

TORONTO (AP) — Canadian autoworkers have voted to ratify a three-year contract agreement with General Motors.Members of Unifor, the union representing about 4,300 Canadian workers at three Ontario GM facilities, voted 80.5% in favor of the deal, the union said Sunday in a statement. The vote followed the pattern of an agreement reached earlier with Ford, and it leaves only Jeep maker Stellantis without a contract. Talks have yet to start with Stellantis, which has the largest Canadian manufacturing footprint of Detroit’s three automakers. The GM agreement came after a brief strike last week by the workers at GM factories in Oshawa and St. Catharines, Ontario, and a parts warehouse in Woodstock, Ontario.GM says in a statement that the deal recognizes worker contributions while positioning the company to be competitive in the future.Unifor said that the deal includes pay raises of nearly 20% for production workers and 25% for skilled trades. Workers would get 10% in general pay raises i...Poland’s opposition leader says coalition has votes to unseat ruling party

By Monika Scislowska and Vanessa Gera | Associated PressWARSAW, Poland — Polish opposition leader Donald Tusk said that three opposition parties had sufficient votes to win the general election on Sunday after an exit poll projected that they had enough combined support to oust Law and Justice, the governing conservative nationalist party. The Ipsos exit poll suggested that the opposition together has likely won 248 seats in the 460-seat lower house of parliament, the Sejm. Law and Justice, according to the projection, obtained 200 seats, while the far-right Confederation got 12 seats.“I am the happiest man on earth,” Tusk said. “Democracy has won. Poland has won.”Law and Justice leader Jaroslaw Kaczynski acknowledged that the outcome was uncertain.Kaczynski told supporters at his headquarters that his party’s result, at nearly 37% of the vote, according to the exit poll, was a great success, but acknowledged it might not be able to keep power.“The question before us is whether this ...Tips on chasing the Northern Lights in Alaska

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Gardner Minshew’s return to Jacksonville was a turnover-filled folly, a much different version of “Minshew Mania.”Minshew lost a fumble and threw three interceptions in his first game back in Jacksonville since the Jaguars traded him just before the 2021 season. Minshew’s miscues were critical in Indianapolis’ 37-20 loss to the Jaguars on Sunday.“At the end of the day, I was careless with the ball,” Minshew said. “I didn’t do a good enough job taking care of it. I put our team in a really bad spot, and it’s not fair to the rest of the guys. So I’m really going to look at those, hold myself accountable.“We’re not going to tuck our tail. We’re not going to drop our chin. We’re just going to keep rushing through and learn from it and we’ll come out the other side better.”With rookie Anthony Richardson spraining his throwing shoulder and landing on injured reserve last week, the Colts turned to Minshew for at least the next month — maybe longer. It just so happ...Chicago Bears QB Justin Fields leaves loss to Vikings with right hand injury

CHICAGO (AP) — Justin Fields had a towel over his right hand as he walked to the locker room in the second half. His day was over. What happens next could have a dramatic effect on the future of the Chicago Bears.Fields left Sunday’s 19-13 loss to the Minnesota Vikings with a hand injury. The third-year quarterback got an X-ray that was negative.“We’ll see where it is tomorrow when we get the MRI,” Chicago coach Matt Eberflus said. “That’s all I know right now.”Fields got hurt with about 10 1/2 minutes left in the third quarter. He tried to throw the ball away on a sack by Danielle Hunter, and it looked as if he might have landed awkwardly on his hand as he went down.Chicago (1-5) punted on the next play, and Tyson Bagent was behind center when the Bears got the ball back.Fields went 6 for 10 for 58 yards and threw an interception before he departed. He also had eight carries for 46 yards and was sacked four times.“With him, he wanted to come back in the game,” Eber...Seahawks lament wasted chances in the red zone in a 17-13 loss to the Bengals

CINCINNATI (AP) — The Seattle Seahawks failed to take advantage of two late scoring opportunities in a frustrating 17-13 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. Four times in the second half, Geno Smith took the Seahawks into the red zone and came out of it with just a field goal.“All the red zone stuff is where they got us, where we needed touchdowns,” Seattle coach Pete Carroll said. “Our numbers will look bad in the red zone, but we were so close to winning that football game.”The Bengals defense intercepted Smith twice in the second half. The Bengals also twice stopped the Seahawks on fourth down from inside the Cincinnati 10 in the last 2:08 of the game to preserve the win. “It stings a lot more just because we couldn’t finish a couple times,” receiver Jake Bobo said. “It hurts a little but more, because our defense played the way they did. So we wanted to get it done for those guys.”The Bengals offense wasn’t great, either. After quarterback Joe Burrow threw two ...Latest news
