Right now, it appears that the major party nominees for president will be two old, white men with weird-looking hair.Joe Biden will be 81 and Donald Trump will be 78 on election day. However, age, race, and hair are where their similarities end.Once upon a time, the voting public expected presidential candidates to speak English well.President Biden may stumble over words but at least he makes sense. Whereas Trump’s nonsequiturs and delusional assertions often leave folks scratching their heads.Examples of Trump’s daftness are many; here are just a few.–The first interview following his arrest at the Fulton County jail:“Terrible experience. I came in I was treated very nicely but it is what it is. I took a mugshot. I never heard the words mugshot; that wasn’t, they didn’t teach me that at the Wharton School of Finance.”If you believe a New Yorker has never heard of a mugshot, I’ve got a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you.— Knows how to mind melt with secret documents:“If you’...Colorado mobile home company engaged in “unlawful price-fixing cartel,” lawsuit alleges

The nation’s largest owners of manufactured housing communities conspired to raise rent on low-income and elderly residents via an “unlawful price-fixing cartel,” according to a new lawsuit filed in federal court last week. The 85-page complaint, filed in U.S. District for the Northern District of Illinois, names nine companies — including one based in Denver — that collectively own thousands of mobile home parks across the United States.Attorneys for two Illinois residents named as plaintiffs called the lawsuit an unprecedented move to hold the companies accountable for jacking up rents on the poorest Americans.“This case is a prime example of companies victimizing American citizens who can least protect and defend themselves,” said Adam Levitt, one of the attorneys spearheading the lawsuit. The nine companies include Denver-based YES! Communities, which owns and operates more than 200 communities and 55,000 homes across the country. The state’s attempt to prevent fraud in its unemployment system is having an unintended consequence: preventing thousands of legitimate claims from being paid.At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020 when Colorado unemployment skyrocketed to 11.3% from a historic low of 2.5%, the Department of Labor and Employment’s system at times was overwhelmed. It even crashed on a day when 21,000 people filed for benefits. This time, Coloradans can usually file their claims, but they are facing difficulties getting paid — if they’re paid at all — and reaching real people to talk about their situations is proving to be a Herculean task for some. After more than five years working for CPCneutek, a commercial printer in Grand Junction, 68-year-old Ilene Harsip lost her job.She filed an unemployment claim in June. So far, three months have passed without a payment.Harsip learned that her identity was stolen in early 2021.
